Here is a compilation of car terms that we think you will find helpful as you research your next purchase. These are common terms that you might come across while shopping for your next vehicle. half-ton, three-quarter-ton, one-ton, etc.
A classification of vehicles (specifically pickup trucks and sport vehicles) that underrepresents their load capacity

head restraint
The cushion mounted on the backrest of a car that protects the driver or passenger against whiplash.

head-up display (HUD)
An LCD display that provides information in plain sight to a driver; is usually mounted on the dashboard or anywhere appropriate for driving use.

HomeLink
A remote control used to open programmed parts of the house such as a garage door or gate; usually mounted onto the dashboard of a car or available as a separate device.

horizontally opposed engine
An engine with two cylinder heads on opposite sides of a crankshaft which accomplishes a flat area or profile.

horsepower (a.k.a. power ratings)
Non-metric units of power usually used as a measure of force exerted by an engine.

hydraulic mounts
Mounts found on the drivetrain that are filled with hydraulic fluid to isolate vibrations, intended or not.
